Asleep! O Sleep A Little
While, White Pearl!

Asleep! O sleep a little while,
white pearl!

And let me kneel, and let me
pray to thee,

And let me call Heaven's
blessing on thine eyes,

And let me breathe into the
happy air,

That doth enfold and touch
thee all about,

Vows of my slavery, my
giving up,

My sudden adoration, my
great love!

John Keats

Donation of a Memorial bench

How our Memorial Bench system works
We install custom made wooden memorial benches in the Gardens in specific areas of the Gardens from time to time. Should you wish to have a memorial bench installed, we will take into consideration your suggestions for sites in the Gardens that were of special significance for your loved one.

The donation of a Memorial Bench
The donation for a bench is currently R15 000.00 payable upfront. This covers the manufacture, installation and maintenance of the bench. This also includes:
• paving the area beneath the bench;
• a memorial plaque that is fitted with a dedication in memory of your   loved one engraved on the plaque (wording on the plaque is   restricted to 'IN LOVING MEMORY OF' together with the appropriate   name(s) and dates)
• Maintenance of the bench and the area surrounding it.
Funds raised through our Memorial Bench Programme go towards   assisting with development projects on the Gardens.

Donation Includes
• Installation of the bench.
• Area beneath the bench will be paved
• A memorial plaque is provided and fitted and a dedication in memory   of your loved one is engraved on the plaque. (Wording on the plaque   is restricted to 'IN LOVING MEMORY OF' and the appropriate names   and dates to follow.)
• Maintenance of the bench and the area surrounding it.

Conditions
• Benches remains the property of the Durban Botanic Gardens
• No ashes are allowed to be scattered or buried in the vicinity of the   bench
• Benches have a life span of ten years from the time of donation.   After this time has lapsed the Durban Botanic Gardens reserves the   right to remove the memorial plaque and either reuse or remove the   bench. However, you will be given the opportunity at the end of the   period of agreement to donate another bench. Note this will be   charged at the future fee per bench.
